Viñas de Miedes Frizzante

Hello!!

Today we want to share with you the release of a new product made by Bodegas San Alejandro, our Viñas de Miedes Frizzante. Our followers on social networks already know a little more about this product, that we officially presented in our blog today.

Viñas de Miedes Frizzante is a light, fresh, sparkling and sweet drink made from muscat and viura grapes of low alcohol graduation, only 5.5% Vol.

Driven by our constant curiosity of improving and achieving new challenges, Bodegas San Alejandro never stops working. This year, one of our projects has been the production of a new reference in order to captivate today and tomorrow’s consumers. Apart from the aim of offering a wider range of products and to provide a drink to be enjoyed by everyone, this product’s freshness and low alcohol graduation will also reach those consumers who are not wine lovers yet. In the end, this is a refreshing drink to enjoy everywhere at any time.

The Frizzantes are fashionable, and they have arrived standing strong. These drinks had a 30% growth in consumption over the past year!

In some countries, this product is called "New Age" because they have been introduced very stroing in some segments of new consumers. The New Age Frizzantes have captivated many people for its flavor, sweetness and freshness.

They haven't removed the wine, the Frizzantes are drinks for habitual consumers and potential consumers of wine, but they are an alternative to beer and soft drinks.

We invite you to taste it, we love it! We hope you do too!

Remember that it is important to serve it very chilled! ;-)

Greetings,

Mireia Martínez.

Medals Baltasar Gracián in Grenaches du Monde

Dear all,

This week, the BSA team wants to share with you all  very good news in respect of our wines!

Two new Gold Medals have just been added to our medal table obtained during these years at the Grenaches of the World Competition.

As you all know, this Contest granted Bodegas San Alejandro the status of the Best Awarded Winery in Spain, and the only one with a GRAND GOLD MEDAL!  (when this category existed in the first editions of the Competition…)

This year, the awarded wines are:

Baltasar Gracian Crianza 2013 that has another Gold Medal obtained with the vintage 2012 and

Baltasar Gracian Reserva 2011 which was submitted for the very first time and has arrived standing strong obtaining its first Gold Medal!

We can't be happier! The fact of achieving such recognitions on ageing-wines is even more important for us because of their complexity.

Thus, we continue demonstrating that our Garnachas are among the Best Garnachas in the World, no matter they are young or aged in barrels.

We simply love challenges ;-)

Regards,

Mireia Martínez.

End of the harvest in Bodegas San Alejandro

Winemakers in Bodegas San Alejandro

It is middle of November, and in Bodegas San Alejandro we are now doing the final harvest works, which are the pressing of the last tanks.

Since the end of September we have had some weeks of really hard work, but this time of the year is a special moment for all of us who work in the wine industry. In every corner of the winery the aromas of fermentation are appreciated, and in these days we attend to the spectacle of the transformation of the juice into wine. This is a magical process that involves thousands of chemical reactions that make of each wine a unique product, and that renders people humble before nature. As wine producers we can just respect these processes and use all the tools we have to elaborate the best possible wine.

It is not easy to make an appreciation of the vintage so early, but what we can highlight of the vintage 2015 is the perfect healthy status of the grapes, that has allowed us to produce wines of incredible concentration and vitality. White and Rose wines show delicious fruity flavors, while Garnacha wines reflect every year better the personality of high altitude vineyards grown in a region with such a long tradition in viticulture.

Now we only have just some tanks still with grapes in the winery, which will be press soon. In the next days we will start to rack the best wines of this vintage to barrels. For this reason, it is very important in this moment the tasting work, in which the winemakers make the classification of the wines in young ones or wines with the capability of aging in barrels. This is also the time for making the first blends of wines with similar profiles.

After harvest it is very common in the winery to feel some melancholy because we are not going to have grapes until next year, but the illusion of enjoying the wines of this vintage soon is the reward.

Greetings,

Technical Team from Bodegas San Alejandro.

The harvest is going on in Bodegas San Alejandro

The vintage 2015 has appeared very early in all the appellations of Spain, being in the majority of the wineries already finished.

Although in BSA we started the vintage approximately 10 days before than last year we are still far from the end.

As you know our altitude conditions delay the ripeness of the grapes and allow a slow and complete evolution of the skin, principal factor of flavor in our wines.

At the moment we have already harvested the plots of Old Vines Grenache as well as the 100% of our syrah, macabeo and tempranillo surface.

So far the health and the quality is very good, the wines in fermentation offer very rich tones and a nice range of concentrated aromas.

In the next two weeks we will harvest the latest plots and those Grenache vineyards that for zoning we understand that they still have to mature more to obtain the best of them.

We venture an exceptional campaign!
