International recognition for our high-altitude Garnachas in Tim Atkin’s 2025 report
We are pleased to share that the prestigious British wine critic Tim Atkin has included Bodegas San Alejandro in his Special Report Discover Spain 2025, awarding excellent scores to four of our wines. This recognition undoubtedly reinforces the constant effort of our team and highlights the quality of our high-altitude Garnachas, grown in the Calatayud D.O., which continue to stand out for their character and authenticity.

Clos Baltasar Garnacha 2023 – 93 points
Garnacha from old vines in the Sierra Santa Cruz, with great concentration, silky texture, and aromas of red fruit, clove, and pepper. Additionally, partial fermentation with whole clusters brings freshness and balance. A wine that combines wild character with elegance.
Recommended consumption: 2025–2028 - Evodia 2023 – 92 points
A vibrant and fresh Garnacha from old vines grown on varied soils. Aromas of wild strawberry and herbs, with ripe tannins and good texture thanks to its aging in concrete and barrel. Ultimately, a modern and authentic expression of Calatayud.

Las Rocas Viñas Viejas 2023 – 91 points
A rich and elegant Garnacha from vines aged between 60 and 80 years. Aged for 12 months in French oak, it combines ripe fruit with notes of thyme and clove. Moreover, the altitude-driven acidity brings liveliness and balance.

Querencia Deseya 2023 – 91 points
An expressive Garnacha from dry-farmed vines at nearly 1,000 meters of altitude. Aromas of raspberry and mountain herbs, with mineral freshness, tension, and good grip. However, what truly stands out is its personality and its reflection of the surrounding landscape.
Recommended consumption: 2025–2027Taken together, these results validate our commitment to sustainable viticulture, the recovery of old vineyards, and the work with native varieties such as Garnacha, which in Calatayud reaches a unique expression thanks to the altitude, soil diversity, and extreme climate.
